Phantom ships - Swedish navy's Visby class waits in post-construction wings
Article Abstract:
The Royal Swedish Navy would have five Visby-class phantom ships, built almost entirely of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic, fully operational by 2009. The fleet of five futuristic surface combatant ships would first go back to the shipyard for an internal reconfiguration and stealth optimization program expected to start by late 2007, and when completed, these can be a complementary resource for a land-based command, control, communications and intelligence network.
