Thailand, Sweden order new vessels
Article Abstract:
The Royal Thai Navy (RTN), on December 22, 2005, ordered a multipurpose hydrographic survey and mine countermeasures vessel from a consortium formed by Schelde Naval Shipbuilding and Unithai Shipyard and Engineering. The Schelde-built vessel which would be a shorter derivative of the Snellius-class hydrographic survey vessels built for Royal Netherlands Navy would represent a significant expansion of the RTN's capabilities to conduct underwater surveillance, reconnaissance and environmental assessment.
