Polish Armed Forces procurement plans - a status report
Article Abstract:
The Polish government has announced that all main procurement programs for the national Armed Forces shall be connected with the Target Force goals as accepted by Poland upon joining NATO. The government said that the 22 MiG-29s currently in service will remain operational until 2010-2015 while the more than 90 Su-22M fighter/bombers will be replaced with new multi- role fighters. Among the modernization programs for the Polish Navy are for the acquisition of ORKAN- and GORNIK-class corvettes, the single ORZEL submarine and three KROGULEC-class small minesweepers.

Polish Armed Forces modernisation up to 2012
Article Abstract:
The Polish Armed Forces' modernization programme, which will be effected from 1998 to 2012, aims at formulating a target model for the Armed Forces, one that will be adequate to the anticipated future situations and will meet the country's military requirements. The modernization programme is prompted by the expected threats and challenges in connection with the prospects of Poland joining the NATO.

Polish Air Force modernisation - a status report
Article Abstract:
Warsaw's Defence Minister Bronislaw Komorowski declared that the Polish Air Force shall again be the central, most technologically advanced element in the Polish Armed Forces. The process for procuring a new-generation fighter aircraft has been opened.
