Rheinmetall Defence stages demonstration of 'ready to go' force-protection concept
Article Abstract:
Rheinmetall Defence, staged a live demonstration on 27-29 September 2005, of a range of force-protection technologies aimed at protecting expeditionary forces, high-value objects and very important persons from attacks by terrorists or organized criminals. The products developed by Rheinmetall and its subsidiaries include contributions in the fields of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, active engagement and simulation for training and mission rehearsal.

Swiss-based laboratory gives high priority to future biological and radiological threats
Article Abstract:
The Swiss-based Spiez Laboratory for nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) protection is planning to build a high-security microbiology laboratory in 2007 under a CHF25 million (USD20 million) investment plan, which might be approved by the Swiss parliament in 2006. The new lab, called the DDPS (Swiss defence ministry) Safety Laboratory, will be designed to respond to new threats in the field of biological warfare.

NATO sees effective co-operation as key to overcoming terrorist threats from the skies

NATO feels that effective co-operation between civil air aircraft control (ATC), the air-defense organization, operation centers and centers of political authority are crucial to overcome terrorist threats involving commercial aircrafts. NATO is working to extend its anti-terrorist measures beyond its territory by joining forces with non-NATO nations.
