Smaller and faster: Army envisions a quick-reaction force in Europe
Article Abstract:
The U.S. Army reduces its forces in Europe from 62,000 soldiers to 24,000 and is planning to move its headquarters from Heidelberg in Germany to Wiesbade as a part of consolidation of operations that will put a greater emphasis on rapid deployability. The Army's power-projection capability and its ability to sustain combat operations in far-flung areas will be greatly improved due to the consolidation of operations.
