Royal Navy strives to bolster fire support
Article Abstract:
The UK Royal Navy is considering options to improve its naval fire-support capability. Some of them include short-term measures like improving the accuracy of fire of the 4.5-inch (114 mm) Mk 8 Mod 1 mount existing used, and long-term plans for acquisition of a gun for close support and coastal suppression and also rockets and missiles for longer-range precision strike requirements, such as the Oto Melara 127 mm 64-calibre lightweight naval gun mount, and three 155 mm solutions.
