Russian naval exports weather the storm
Article Abstract:
Russia's naval industry is expected to rebound after its industrial base nearly collapsed following the demise of the USSR. As of the early 1990s, Soviet naval shipyards held about 20% of the international naval export market. While many Russian naval vessels on the market are not appealing to buyers, there are export successes such as the Sovremenny class destroyers, submarines and fast attack craft. Russian vessels are very competitive because of their pricing and producers, with government support, are increasing their marketing efforts.
