Shipyard starts work on Greek replenishment oiler
Article Abstract:
Elefsis Shipyards has started work on a new replenishment oiler for the Hellenic Navy. The vessel is similar to the design of the Italian Navy's Fincantieri-designed Etna. It can accommodate 245 people incluing the staff of the admiral. Two 50-tonne cranes and three elevators are used for cargo handling. Its cargo capacity amounts to 6,350 tons, of which about 6,000 tons are reserved for JP5, diesel oil and fresh/distilled water.

Information regarding the conversion of U.S. military submarines from SSBN's to SSGN's is given. The new conversion will allow cruise missiles and SEAL personnel to operate from the same vessel.
