Article Abstract:
A report published by SingaporeEs Home Affairs Ministry detailing the structure and activities of Jemaah Islamiah (JI) group in the country from the mid-1990s to January 2003, is presented. It reveals the links of the groups with Southeast Asian terrorist groups, Al-Qaeda network, thus suggesting that a response beyond short-term security measures and intelligence-led counterterrorist operations is necessary to at least minimize the risk associated with groups like JI.

Article Abstract:
Jemaah Islamiya is a regional terrorist group in Indonesia who were quick to take advantage of the fall of Suharto in May 1998 and subsequent collapse of military control of civilian politics that resulted in an eruption of sectarian violence across the outer islands. Jemaah Islamiya is trying to project itself as a protector of the local Muslim communities thus replenishing the ranks of its organization.
