ARGs, prepositioned ships offload marines in Kuwait
Article Abstract:
The Department of Defense is building up Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard units in the Middle East in support of Operation Enduring freedom. Marine corps forces such as the 1st Marine Division, 1st Force Service support Group and elements of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing in Kuwait are under the command of I Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) deployed from Camp Pendleton.

Armada arrayed for anticipated action: Largest deployment since the Gulf War
Article Abstract:
The United States Navy and the Royal Navy is deploying the largest armada of naval forces to the Middle East region since the Gulf War for an anticipated combat action. The number of U.S. carrier battle groups (CVBGs) and amphibious ready groups (ARGs) at sea has risen dramatically through December 2002 and January 2003.

US Marine Corps has redeployed 25,000 Marines to Iraq after the major combat operation of Iraqi Freedom in 2004. This redeployment is to combat a burgeoning insurgency in Iraq.
