Stinger Block I air defense missiles
Article Abstract:
The United States Army is starting to secure its first quantities of Stinger Block I air defense missiles. Stinger Block I will be the lethal component of the US Army's short-range air defense (SHORAD) system of systems. The SHORAD system of systems provides protection to frontline land forces and assets against low-flying missiles. The Stinger Block I is an enhanced model of earlier Stinger missiles, with capability to defeat fixed- and rotary-wing targets, unmanned aerial vehicles and cruise missiles.
