Tango Bravo: Breaking down barriers in submarine design

The $97 million Tango Bravo program, launched in 2005, aims to identify techniques and technologies to overcome identified Technology Barriers in order to reduce cost and increase the flexibility of future designs. The program by the U.S. Navy and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) seeks to rationalize submarine platform infrastructure requirements while matching Virginia-class capabilities and offering the potential to accommodate an enhanced payload.

US Navy mounts relief efforts in wake of Katrina
Article Abstract:
The US Navy (USN) has mobilized 16 ships, 68 aircraft ad more than 10,000 naval personnel to the affected Gulf Coast region of the US in the immediate wake of Hurricane Katrina. The Naval assets are providing rescue, transport, medical evacuation and assistance, removing debris from the Gulfport and Pascagoula channels and restoring infrastructure in the affected areas of Louisiana and Mississippi.
