Testbed role for RSN's Unity
Article Abstract:
The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) will use the new 55-m patrol vessel (PV) RSS Unity as a technology evaluation platform for demonstration of newly-developed shipborne equipments. Unity is one of the four 55m Fearless-class PVs commissioned into the RSN's 182 Squadron at the Tuas Naval Base in Singapore, along with the RSS Resilience, RSS Sovereignty and RSS Justice. Unity will become the service's naval technology evaluation ship for performing trials and demonstration of new shipboard systems under real-time operating conditions to ensure the RSN's lead in naval operations.

Business is good for Ukraine shipyard
Article Abstract:
Feodosia Shipbuilding Assn Morye has been improving versions of various vessels constructed by Morye in the past as it continues to grow 10 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union. A new model of the Zhuk-class, called Kafa-2400M, has been developed to meet new demands for comfort in heavy sea conditions. Two Kafa-2400Ms are being constructed and are scheduled to be completed in nine months to a year. The vessels are powered by German MTU engines and employ equipment from France, Japan, Korea and the UK.

Singapore Technologies launches LST design
Article Abstract:
Singapore Technologies Marine unveiled a new design for a 125-m landing ship tank (LST) at the Asian Aerospace show in Singapore in Feb 2000. The new LST design features a displacement of about 5,000 tons, a bow door for loading and unloading vehicles, a stern well dock, a flight deck that can accomodate a light helicopter and a covered helicopter hangar. It is also said to be capable of speed of over 25 knots.
