The T-72CZ tank upgrade program
Article Abstract:
The T-72CZ tank upgrade program in the Czech Republic is one of the few official T-72 upgrades currently being undertaken. At present, most T-72 retrofits are purely commercial intended for the export market. The Czech program is being undertaken in a collaboration between five Czech and four foreign companies. Minor subcontractors include 22 more Czech companies. In the upgrade, the T-72M/M1's 2A46M 125mm smooth-bore gun with automatic loader and two-axis stabilization is kept, as are the 7.62mm coaxial and 12.7mm pintle-mounted MGs. In terms of armor, the T-72CZ enjoys higher protection with the inclusion of DYNA-72 Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA) tiles.

Protection as a survival philosophy for AFVs
Article Abstract:
An assessment of the variety of elements that enhance the protection of armored fighting vehicles (AFVs) is presented. AFVs are more effective when they are left undetected, or when detected are left unidentified. Signature reduction technologies such as signal absorbing material offer this kind of protection. Another level of protection is the armored plating, which has evolved through the years to protect the AFV from threats from all directions.
