The elections: Step 4, election day
Article Abstract:
The American soldiers were ready for the call on Election Day, January 30, 2005, but the predicted widespread violence turned out to be spotty and slight. The insurgency found out how little support they had to hamper the first free Iraqi elections. The Iraqi's finally got their freely elected government, and the U.S. soldiers were able to go home a few weeks later to their families as the 1st Infantry Division ended its Operation Iraqi Freedom rotation.
