The first military airplane
Article Abstract:
The Wright Brothers found it very difficult to get a buyer for their aircraft, and how they succeeded in getting the US Army buy a Wright Flyer is detailed. It was after initial rejection and reconsiderations that US decided to buy a Wright plane on Aug 2, 1909, after calculation of the official speed of the flight at 42 miles per hour, where a bonus of $5,000 was awarded to over $25,000 base price.
