The flying fox
Article Abstract:
The Marine Corps is assessing the feasibility of using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the Silver Fox, to detect explosive threats by flying ahead of convoys to detect roadside bombs. The Silver Fox's modular design and tiny logistical tail make for rapid repair and maintenance, where the entire system of three aircraft, a ground-air station and launch-and-recovery units costs only $350,000.
