The new direction of United States strategic command
Article Abstract:
The newly reorganized United States Strategic Command is expected to have a new portfolio by the end of 2003 that includes global conventional strike, special operations, missile defense, command and control, and information warfare. Many issues like which of these capabilities will reside in the Offutt AFB, Nebraska-based command and which will be selected, a la carte, from other operational organizations are to be tackled.

Article Abstract:
The Reliable Replacement Warhead (RRW) program, designed to modernize the nuclear force by 2030 would be presented to the Congress as it could take a couple of decade to build the infrastructure required for sustained capability in nuclear weapon. The RRW program would design new components for previously tested nuclear weapons to reduce the chance resuming nuclear testing, which is dangerous and expensive.
