Transforming America's 'Sentinels of the sea'
Article Abstract:
The recapitalization of Deepwater's ageing and technologically obsolete cutters, helicopters and aircraft along with the infusion of modern IDS C4ISR integrated logistic system will transform the U.S. Coast Guard's ability to provide higher levels of maritime homeland security, maritime domain awareness and operational excellence in all its traditional missions. The new Integrated Deepwater System will allow America to push its maritime borders out to sea-away, will provide sensors that are more capable, will lead to a true network-centric system, and will lead to a major maintainability, reliability and supportability improvements.
