True blue: behind the Kosovo numbers game
Article Abstract:
A May 15, 2000, article by Newsweek magazine has alleged that Air Force investigators working for NATO lied in their report on the number of successful air strikes against Serbian army tanks, armored personnel carriers and artillery during the 1999 NATO campaign in Yugoslavia. It is argued that Air Force and NATO personnel who compiled the report of strike missions in Kosovo not only told the truth but also organized an impressively detailed account of how NATO air attacks paralyzed the Yugoslav forces. The NATO data indicates that aerospace power is effective against enemy ground forces.

The carrier myth
Article Abstract:
Naval aircraft carriers provides the US military the needed airpower to conduct air warfare operations against any hostile nation. The carriers are highly mobile and flexible in terms of strategic deployments and are considered the backbone of US naval fleets that are programmed to fight Soviet naval flotillas. However lack of clear cut strategic role for the carriers and lack of superior air superiority assets hamper their operational tempo.

Trenchard at the creation
Article Abstract:
Britain's advocate of an independent air force, the Royal Air Force, is Hugh M. Trenchard, who is a forceful patron saint of airpower. The British, French and the American airmen in the wars owed much to Trenchard's practical ability to mold airpower into a respected weapon of warfare at an age when airpower's technologies were still sorely lacking.
