US Navy studying persistent unmanned surveillance
Article Abstract:
Regarding Persistent Unmanned Maritime Airborne Surveillance (PUMAS) program, the Naval Systems Command presented four contracts. The US Navy has given the first stage of developing new unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) contract in late August to gear up for fielding by 2013.

The United States Navy is developing and testing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), which can be launched from maritime patrol aircraft and anti-submarine warfare helicopters. US Navy is working in collabaration with Advanced Ceramics Research Inc. to produce UAVs.
