United Defence LP Mark 45 Naval Gun
Article Abstract:
United Defence's Armament Systems Division has introduced the 62-Caliber Mark 45 Mod 4 Naval Gun System. The latest model of the compact 5-inch (127 mm) fully automatic naval gun offers enhanced capabilities for Naval Surface Fire Support (NSFS) and various gun missions for surface combatants. It features all-weather, day/night, over-the-horizon NSFS mission firepower and fire mission flexibility for anti-surface and antiair warfare. The use of an Extended Range Guided Munition and structural modificaton to the basic MK45 Gun Mount has extended NSFS range to over 60 nautical miles.

New trends in naval guns
Article Abstract:
The US Navy is constantly upgrading its naval guns or developing new weapons to meet modern warfighting and defense requirements. Aside from greater firepower, the Navy is looking for improved sustainability, stealth and reliability from new naval guns that are also less costly to own, maintain and operate. The Navy's Mk 45 5-inch gun and the conceptual Advanced Gun System are the weapons that undergoing agressive development.
