Upgrade for 76/62 guns
Article Abstract:
Otobreda has introduced a set of enhancements, including a stealth cupola and a digital fire control console, for the 76/62 SR naval gun mounts. The digital fire control console is expected to improve man-machine and control interfaces, local and remote networking and event tracking functions of the gun mount. Meanwhile, the stealth cupola is expected to eliminate the radar signature of the gun mount by 100%. Target clients include the Italian Navy and other NATO nations.

Series 8000 engine makes show debut

MTU AG, a Friedrichshaven, Germany-based company, has introduced the 20- cylinder Series 8000 engine at Euronaval in Paris, France. The Series 8000 engine, which produces 9,000 kW, is touted to be environmentally friendly with low fuel consumption, low exhaust emissions and low noise levels. The German company said that the power unit, which is a follow up to the Series 2000 and Series 4000 engines, is targeted for use by navies around the world.

Litton launches new series of naval radars
Article Abstract:
Litton Marine Systems of Charlottesville, VA has introduced the Decca Bridge/Master E series of naval radars at Euronaval in Paris, France. The company claimed that the naval radars were designed for easy integration with other radars and shipboad systems. In addition, the company revealed that the radars are capable of displaying radar video from two different transceivers in the same video circle.
