Vetronics: strengthening the foundation of battefield digitisation
Article Abstract:
The growth of military vehicle electronics or vetronics is expected to influence the direction of the concept of battlefield digitization. The increased need for clear and secure real-time transfer of vast amount of data between and within battlefield elements will prove the the limitation of current vetronic architectures is the weak link in the digitization chain. The current trend in vetronics shows the ascendancy of commercial via military technology and standards; the movement of goverment towards more advanced commercial standards; and movement towards open, distributed systems.
