Water fight: Baglihar Dam divides India and Pakistan
Article Abstract:
The dispute of Baglihar Dam project has highlighted the importance of water resources to both India and Pakistan. The World Bank, which appointed Professor Raymond Lafitte as a neutral arbitrator to review and adjudicate the case, is expected to report on the dispute in mid-February 2007 and this issue might undermine a three-year peace process that is already weakened by the Mumbai bombings in July 2006.

Controlling the line in Kashmir

The construction of a fence along the Line of Control between India and Pakistan to prevent cross-border migration of militants is effective for India since it has reduced the number of militant attacks through infiltration. Political efforts, along with the physical barrier made of barbed wire, are responsible for the achievement of its purpose.
