What happened to Class IX in Iraq?
Article Abstract:
The functions critical to the effective management of Class IX items (consumable repair parts and secondary reparables) such as information management, transportation and distribution control have been described in the context of the shortcomings experienced during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The formation of a separate Class IX management company and the development of an effective supply management system with a proven system for tracking of packages and transportation assets could help in dealing with the shortcomings.
