Winning in Iraq-Military role and technology
Article Abstract:
The military must follow a dual strategy, one for the short term goal of undoing the insurgency and stopping terrorism and the other for the long term goal of developing Iraqi security forces capable of dealing with any new insurgency thrusts and terrorism. Technology has to be enhanced specially in the categories of UAVs, robotics, non-lethal weapons, space satellite surveillance and safe means for Iraqi citizens to communicate easily to government and military authorities and vice-versa.

Article Abstract:
The best military commanders and planners are believed to be professionals who want to end a conflict as soon as possible, restore peace, and bring soldiers home. The US military leaders in Iraq are trying to prove that the belief is true by adopting a dual strategy that includes undoing the insurgency and stopping terrorism and developing Iraqi security forces capable of dealing with the insurgency and terrorism without need of a large US-allied military coalition.
