Kabila enjoys widespread support among the Zaire population because he seeks to replace the corrupt dictator Mobutu Sese Seko. Yet, many of his supporters are concerned with his methods. Kabila has declared a single-party state, new taxes, and laws that limit people's freedom of movement.
