Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated at a Nov 4, 1995 peace rally in Tel Aviv. Yigal Amir, an Israeli law student associated with the radical anti-peace group Eyal, confessed to the killing. Rabin was a military hero who embraced the cause of peace in the 1990s.
