A tortured debate
Article Abstract:
The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have been at loggerheads over the mode of interrogation of suspects or detainees with, the FBI following a policy of not abusing its suspects whereas the CIA following a more hard-line approach. The mode of interrogation is under sharp focus, after revelations of torture at the Iraqi camp of Abu Ghraib even as officials are making it clear that torturing detainees is not a policy that will be appreciated.

Critics of President Bill Clinton question the meeting between the presidents of Russia and the US. Clinton faces the risk of impeachment hearings and may want to show his effectiveness in Moscow. US officials believe the trip will be similar to a "high-wire act," as these two highly-exposed leaders meet without much support.
