An oops in Time Warner's battle for Internet
Article Abstract:
Time Warner has been caught using their employees as intelligence agents in return for monetary incentives. The employees were told that if they made the attempt to receive Internet service from their competitors, Southwestern Bell, and then cancelled the service if it went through, reported the information back to Time Warner, they would receive $100. A few of Time Warners employees reported it to Southwestern Bell and they responded by filing a request for an investigation with the FCC and the Texas Public Utilities Commission.

MCI FACES INQUIRY FOR FRAUD ON FEES FOR LONG DISTANCE
Article Abstract:
MCI Worldcom, which is currently trying to emerge from bankruptcy, is now facing an investigation of whether it defrauded local telecom firms by not paying proper access tariffs for usage on phone lines throughout the 1990s. The federal inquiry is focusing on whether MCI Worldcom disguised long distance calls as local ones in order to avoid paying the access tariff to local carriers. The amount of damages would be in the hundreds of millions if MCI were held liable.
