Air Canada under pension deadline gun

Air Canada tried to wrap up critical negotiations on pensions, cutting an additional $200- million in labor costs and concluded a deal to erase union grievances by the May 15,2004 deadline set by key financiers Deutsche Bank AG and GE Capital Aviation Services. Air Canada is seeking to repay the pension plan deficit over 10 years, twice the current five-year maximum allowable under federal regulations.
