Air Canada beefs up staffing
Article Abstract:
Air Canada is spending $300-million to add 2,000 jobs to its customer service operations. Complaint regarding misplaced luggage, long waits at airports, and backed-up phone lines, increased after the merger of Canadian Airlines International in Air Canada. About 550 additional staff has been hired and are in training. Staffing at call centers will increase by 375 and additional 240 baggage handlers and 200 customer service personnel will be added. All the measures announced by Air Canada target Pearson's airport as a priority for improving service.

Air Canada, pilots report progress in talks

Representatives from both Air Canada and the Air Canada Pilots Association have reported progress in their labor negotiations. A strike by the union's 2,200 pilots would be crippling to passengers, due to Air Canada's dominant position in the industry.
