Air Canada's heir apparent takes on title of president

Air Canada, a Montreal, Canada-based airline, added the title of president to executive vice-president and chief operating officer Robert Milton, the heir apparent to chief executive officer Lamar Durrett. Milton will oversee the airline's day-to-day operations, while Durrett will be responsible for strategy and policy. With Milton's new title, Jacques Bourgeault is left as Air Canada's No 3 man with the title of senior executive vice president.

Airline executive to turn in her wings

Canadian Airlines International Ltd's marketing chief Barbara Amster will take early retirement. She will likely be replaced by Mary Jordan, who is currently the airline's senior vice president of customer service and operations. A company spokesperson said Amster will take some time off to enjoy the company of her husband. Amster's decision came a few days after the airline announced it lost C$150 million in the 1998 fourth quarter.
