Airports earmark funds for building
Article Abstract:
Fifty airports have received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration to tack an extra $1.50 on airline tickets to pay for construction projects. Few may reduce the time fliers lose to delays, but many may make waits more comfortable. The airports are among the first to get approval from the agency since Apr 1, 2001, when the maximum Passenger Facility Charge was raised to $4.50, up from $3, each time a passenger boards a plane. Airports are expected to cllect up to $1.9 billion in 2001, from the fee vs $1.5 billion in 2000.

EPA offers to work with small stations on gas tanks
Article Abstract:
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will not be harsh on small gas station owners who could be forced to close by a new regulation on storage tanks. EPA Administrator Carol Browner said the agency's policy will be to work with owners rather than adopt a hardline stance. Despite the 10 years that were given to owners to upgrade their tanks, an estimated 70,000 stations still fail to comply.
