Analysts see financial 'disaster' for Air Canada
Article Abstract:
Air Canada of Montreal, Quebec, is expected to post up to C$20 million in daily revenue losses and perform badly in the third quarter due to the ongoing strike by 2,100 of its pilots, noted HSBC Securities' Jacques Kavafian. Kavafian also stated that the airline will absorb C$13 million in cash losses per day, including any savings reaped from not operating its planes. Kavafian stressed that the strike will negatively affect Air Canada's financial standing even if the strike is quickly resolved.

Mini-tenders put whiz kid on spot
Article Abstract:
TRC Capital Corp of Toronton, Ontarion, is being investigated by the Alberta Securities Commission for its efforts to buy shares for less than market value. At the center of the investigation is TRC's bid to acquire as many as 4.25 million shares in Suncor Energy Inc of Calgary, Alberta, at nearly $6 less than market value. The bids, also known as 'mini- tenders,' may not be in the public interest because they target unsophisticated investors, said the commission.
