Law firms plan to merge
Article Abstract:
Fraser & Beatty, a law firm based in Toronto, Ontario, has confirmed it is merging with Milner Fenerty of Alberta, creating a new firm, which will be called Fraser Milner. The merge operations, which is expected to have over 350 lawyers, will become the third largest law firm in Canada, next to McCarthy Tetrault and Blake Cassels & Graydon. Fraser & Beatty Chairman David Smith said Fraser Milner will be a full-service business law firm, combining Milner Fenerty's expertise in oil and gas law with Fraser & Beatty's emphasis on tax and securities.

The company, established in 1993 by Ms. Thomas Yaccato, trains financial sales professionals on how to meet the distinctive needs of women and how to be aware of the difference in communication styles of men and women. The company's training course was cited at an international conference in Taipei, Taiwan, as one of the best ways of learning and marketing through gender awareness.
