Top posts at Momenta to ex-Apple official
Article Abstract:
Momenta International appoints Delbert W. Yocam as chairman, president and chief executive officer. Yocan, former chief operating officer at Apple, has come out of retirement to head the pen-based computer startup company located in Mountain View, CA. Momenta was founded in 1989. Momenta computers can use either keyboard or pen input devices and run under a proprietary operating system or Microsoft Windows. Some think that Yocam's appointment is part of an investor plan to increase Momenta's profitability following a rapid expenditure of the company's equity. Yocam says that Momenta has negotiated new investment that will finance the company through late 1992 or mid-1993. Yocan joined Apple in 1979, and worked as executive vice president and chief operating officer from 1986 to 1988.

IBM Japan names new president; reorganization of unit mirrors U.S. strategy
Article Abstract:
IBM is promoting Kakutaro Kitashiro from vice president to president of IBM Japan Ltd, replacing former Pres Takeo Shiina. Kitashiro, 48, is one of IBM's younger top officers. Shiina will remain with the company as CEO and chairman. Kitashiro plans to revitalize the company and announced that he will reorganize the company as a he sees fit, regardless of previous conventions. Shiina is regarded as a successful executive at IBM who helped the Japanese unit generate large profits in the 1980s. The shift towards smaller computers in the general business environment has decreased profits in the 1990s which led to criticisms of Shiina's management. Shiina is 63 years old, which is a few years older than the usual IBM retirement age of 60.
