Attention deficit disorder
Article Abstract:
The current account deficit is running at about 6% of the GDP and it is suspected that this issue is going to re-emerge as a disturbing future of the Australian economic landscape in the near future. The unusual future of the high current account deficit is that it has occurred during a time when strong global growth and trade is increasing and the local economic growth, which was helped by a significant boom in the house prices.

Australia beware the unholy trinity
Article Abstract:
Australia's Federal Reserve Bank governor Ian Macfarlane attributes the economic expansion and optimism of the 1990s to productivity growth derived from micro-economic reforms of the past 15 years. These changes include tariff reductions, privatization, financial deregulation, and competition policy. A corporate tax system that is competitive internationally will be necessary to keep the economy expanding.
