Singapore Airlines (SIA) deputy chairman Cheong Choong Kong bought half of Ansett Airlines in Mar, 1999. The Singaporean billionaire plans to create a group of worldwide airlines. Qantas/British Airways may see its market share of Australian air travel decline as SIA and Ansett increase competition for passengers by increasing flights and lowering prices.
