The proposed merger of BC Telecom Inc and Telus Corp has been approved by the shareholders of both companies. The deal is expected to be closed in time for the first board meeting of the combined entity in Burnaby, British Columbia, on Feb 1, 1999. The merger would result in the elimination of overlapping positions in the company's legal and administrative positions.
