B.C. flat-rate service bogs down telephone network
Article Abstract:
New flat-rate calling package that allows residential customers to make unlimited number of long distance calls to anywhere in Canada for a maximum rate of $20 has caused congestion on telephone network of telephone companies in the province of British Columbia, particularly in Vancouver, BC. The flat-rate calling package is available from 6 p.m. until 8 a.m. and on weekends starting from 6 p.m. Friday. The congestion on the provincial network occurs during the package period.

An emotional last shift at Cominco's 'grand operation'

BC-based Cominco Ltd. has shut down its Sullivan zinc mine in British Columbia and laid off the mine's 430 workers. Cominco, which operated the Sullivan zinc mine longer than any other mining operation in Canada, will also shut down a Broken Hill mine in Australia.

Cominco shares get boost from sale of extra power
