BCT.Telus rejects Call-Net bid to discuss deal before Oct. 14

BCT.Telus Communications Inc, based in Burnaby, British Columbia, has turned down the invitation by Call-Net Enterprises Inc to discuss the acquisition of all or some of the assets of Call-Net. BCT.Telus said it intends to meet with Call-Net, but not before the latter finished discussion with dissident shareholders on Oct 14, 1999. An analyst, however, claim that the two companies have already held private talks for a potential deal.

U.S. rival snaps Simware for $28-million (U.S.)
Article Abstract:
NetManage Inc of Cupertino, CA, has announced its acquisition of Simware Inc of Ottawa, Ontario, for $3.75 a share or total of $28 million. Simware used to specialize in the manufacture of technology the helps computers connect but has recently found success in the development of an Internet- based product for the corporate market called Salvo. NetManage said that Simware will become a wholly-owned subsidiary.
