Ballard teams up with Japanese firm
Article Abstract:
Ballard Power Systems Inc. of Burnaby, British Columbia, has joined forces with Ebara Corp. of Tokyo, Japan, to make and market fuel cell power plants. Ballard, a developer of low-pollution fuel cells, said that its stationary power plant subsidiary, Ballard Generation Systems and Ebara will jointly invest C$22.9 million to establish the new firm in Japan. The new firm is expected to use Ballard's fuel cell technology to produce 250-kilowatt power plants that will be used to supply the electricity needs of hospitals, factories and entire communities.

Ballard beats forecast with sales of fuel cells

Ballard Power Systems Inc. posted higher than expected sales for the 2002 fourth quarter. The company was greatly helped by bus fuel cell engine sales during the period.
