Bans and exceptions
Article Abstract:
The supporters of South Dakota's ban on abortions are employing the availability of emergency contraception to counter criticisms by abortion-rights advocates that the law makes no exceptions for rape and incest victims. They are focusing on a particular section of the law that exempts from the proposed ban any 'contraceptive measure' that is 'administered prior to the time when a pregnancy could be determined through conventional medical testing'.

Continuing battles
Article Abstract:
The war on abortion is still continuing in South Dakota and in the rest of the US. Anti-abortion forces are making gains, but have failed to win decisive victories, while abortion-rights advocates are constantly on the defensive but holding on to their most important victory relating to the Supreme Court's recognition of a woman's qualified constitutional right to choose an abortion subject to some degree of government regulation.
