New phone bill deal drops fee, shaves taxes
Article Abstract:
A revised plan to revamp phone bills would remove minimum monthly fees paid by millions of subscribers who make few long-distance calls and reduce a planned tax hike. At present, customers are charged a minimum of $3 per month, even if they make few long-distance calls. Long-distance carriers AT and T, Sprint and MCI as well as most of the local phone providers in the country are near to reaching an agreement on the new phone bill deal, which would need the approval of the Federal Communications Commission.
