Black says Hollinger won't be taken private

Chicago, Ill.-based Hollinger International Inc., which is led by chairman and chief executive officer Conrad Black, has announced that it wants to sell many of its newspaper holdings. Industry analysts speculated that Hollinger International may be withdrawing entirely from newspaper operations.

Toronto-based Hollinger Inc. changed the bylaws of Chicago subsidiary Hollinger International Inc., and gave Conrad Black an effective veto over the sale of any major assets. This move prevents the subsidiary from selling the Telegraph group, or any of its major papers, without the approval of Lord Black.
