Brascan Corp. is in the final stages of a $1.1-billion transaction with Weyeshaeuser Co. to acquire forestry assets on the coast of British Columbia. Under the deal, Brascan will receive the timberlands it is seeking, allowing it to separate the rest of the operations, as it feels fit.
