Canfor strikes deal to buy another B.C. forest company

Softwood lumber and kraft maker pulp maker Canfor Corp of Vancouver, British Columbia has announced that it will acquire Northwood Inc. Mead Corp of Oho and Nexfor Inc of Toronto, Ontario have agreed to sell their respective 50% stakes in the forest products company in a $635-million deal. Under the deal, Canfor will acquire Northwood's British Columbian Interior operations, absorb its 2,200 workers and assume C$170 million in debt.
