A hard look at software
Article Abstract:
Culture, the Hypermedia Guide to Western Civilization, an educational software package created at the University of New York, is judged one of the best educational uses of computer technology to date. The program consists of seven diskettes for the Macintosh and uses the Hypercard system. The authors of Culture 1.0 are of the opinion that history should not be viewed as a series of discrete events, but rather as the interaction of various events and personalities, and designed the software accordingly. Users searching for one particular event or name or date are directed toward historically relevant material. The program is distributed by Cultural Resources Inc and is priced at $175. An IBM and IBM-compatible version will cost $190 and is expected to ship by the end of 1989.
